Heyoka Man

Heyoka Man, My Heyoka Man,
meeting you has changed my life
and given me a gift of Laughter and Love.
A Laughter that may seem cruel but wise
and a Love, a Love like the Ocean Blue.
Heyoka man, my Heyoka man, hear my prayer,
then Listen to my Sister the Moon
She knows I love you and has chosen
to show you through Her Waves of Dreams.
She knows I love you and the Earth does too,
for I have told them.
Hear the Winds Heyoka Man.
I know They speak to you and They know I love you.
Gentle Breezes are my friends,
as They affectionately kiss
your brown hawk chiseled face.
To the Thunders I will dance,
to ask a blessing for this budding romance
though I am theirs and you are too
I still must seek permission to be with you.
Heyoka Man, hear my prayer and share with me
Beauty that only you can express.
Come Dance with me.
Laughter is waiting and will Heal All.
Ask the Moon, she knows I love you.
Ask the Clouds for I saw you there.
As the Trees and Waters too,
for I have told Them I love you.
Heyoka Man, Dance for me.
Hear my prayer and Dance with me.
I am Dancing Rainbows of Beauty and Love.
Dance with me, for They All know I love you.
Ask the Moon and She will tell you.

Standing Proud

We of the Eastern shore
know you might think
we aren't here anymore but
we are here and Standing Proud.
Calamities in the past were thrown
our way but many of us are
still here today
and we are Standing Proud.
The Malisset, Passamaquoddy,
Penobscot, The Wampanoag, Micmac, Nipmuc,
Schaghicoke, Paugussett, Pequot
and the Narragansett too
Mohegan, Shinnecock, Matinencock,
and Lenape just to name a few.
Though millions of us
were forced to the spirit side
we continue to interact with you
as we've always intended to do
though just out of view
since we are forever
and Standing Proud.
The Mohawks, Onondagas, Senecas, Cayugas,
Oneidas and Tuscaroras,
know what to do
since we take our cue
from what the Ancestors tell us to do.
While alcohol, disease
and hundreds of betrayals
caused unbelievable griefs
and forced us to wail,
we rise again because we can't fail
we have to be strong
knowing right from wrong
since we must maintain
and make them refrain
from the slaughter they wrought
and teach the ways that have
never been taught.
Thus we proceed with our Ancestors trust
because future generations depend on us.
The Tsalagi, Pamunkey, Lumbee,
Halowa Saponi, Mattaponi, Chickahominy,
Occaneechi, Rappahannock, Powhatan
and The Seminole and The Chickasaw
stand on Aboriginal ground
letting nothing keep us down
because We are Standing Proud.
We are Standing Proud.
